On June 16 Grade 5 and 6 students at St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School took centre stage at the Zoetic Theatre with an array of dance performances for their Freedom Arts Project Recital.

As an Equal Opportunity School, the project provides students with an opportunity to explore all areas of the arts in hopes of fueling new passions and expressions of creativity.

Bringing warm greetings, Principal Sue Verrelli opened the show to acknowledge the many talents that would be highlighted on stage.

"Our grade 5 and 6's have been working very hard the last several months in order to prepare. You will see the hard work they have put into this."

Verelli also noted that the day would not have been possible without all the donors who helped contribute to the unique experience for her students. A community effort, the Freedom Arts Project Recital also doubled as a labour of love, instilling a future full of promise, opportunity, and dance to deserving students.

Among these students, Fatmata Massaquoi and Julie Dabor were both recognized for their talent and dedication and were each awarded a one year dance scholarship, graciously donated by Leo Santos and Melinda Sealy.

With one final group performance of "Can't Stop the Feeling," the contagious energy made its way to the audience, making the 2nd annual recital a roaring success.
